Harmony is the simultaneous combination of tones, especially when blended into chords, pleasing to the ears; as distinguished from melody and rhythm ~ this is exactly what you get when you hear X-ALE!!!
X-ALE is a male group that was formed in the parish of St. Mary, Jamaica back in 2002. The group is comprised of three cousins, namely Lloyd Bryan aka C-Note), Dwayne Cameron (D-Wayne) and Omar Brown (Mr. Smooth). This musical trio is often times compared to international male bands or groups; such as Boyz 11 Men, LUST, Morgan Heritage and many other groups that are popular for their harmonious blend.
X-ALE gained popularity in Jamaica through various music competitions they entered; such as the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Pop Song Competition; in which they were selected among the top ten finalists the year they entered, as well as the popular Tastee Competition; in which they received top ratings. The popularity further escalated through appearances they made on national television and radio interviews, as well as stage performances in Jamaica.
They appeared and performed at several events where they were always well received for their brand of music and presentation style. Some of the events they performed at includes: GT Taylor’s Xmas Extravaganza, Follow di Arrow, Pepsi Teen Splash, St. Mary Mi Come From, Beenie Man’s Summer Sizzle, Heineken Star Time (opening acts sharing stage with reggae greats such as John Holt, George Nooks, Ken Booth, The Mighty Diamonds and Derrick Morgan).
This versatile and talented group has the ability to harmoniously sing songs from any musical genre and have done this since the inception, through original recordings of R&B, Soul, Reggae Dancehall, etc., as well as a few cover versions.
There catalogue include songs such as; “Yuh Girl A Call Mi”, “Stay with Me”, “I’m Not the Only One”, “Sexy Body”, and have worked with many top reggae and dancehall producers; such as Scatta Burrell, Crawba Genius, DJ Tropical, G.T. Taylor, Real Squad Records and Paul “Titus” Green.
Lloyd Bryan aka C-Note hails from Islington in the parish of St. Mary, where he attended the Water Valley Primary School and Islington High School. His musical talent was discovered when he was made part of a church choir as a teenager. He is one of the founding members of the group. Based on his sound it is easy to tell that his style of music was inspired by artistes, such as Pan Head and Singing Melody. C-Note has a very soothing melodic sound, which one can hear especially when he sings soprano or alto in the group.
Dwayne Cameron (D-Wayne) who was born and cultured in Harmony Hall, St. Mary attended Highgate Primary & Junior High School and St. Mary High School. Like many artistes who chose music as a career, he started singing in high school and appeared on various school concerts. He grew up listening to and loving music from various artistes, some of whom inspired his decision to share his talent with the world; they include, LUST, Morgan Heritage, Boys 11 Men, Baby Face and Brian McKnight. D-Wayne sings soprano, tenor and alto to compliment the sensational melody of other members of the group, of which he is a founding member.
Omar Brown (Mr. Smooth) also hails from the beautiful parish of St. Mary, specifically Albany, but spent some of his youthful days in City Kingston; where he attended Duhaney Park Primary School. However he returned to St. Mary as a youngster and attended Islington High School. His talent didn’t go unnoticed by his peers and community members, who encouraged him to pursue his goal to become a singer. He has been performing on stages from as early as his high school days, when he appeared on various school concerts and community events. It is quite evident that his style of music was inspired by other talented singers, such as Tevin Campbell, Ginuwine, Wayne Wonder and Devonte. Mr. Smooth’s sweet melodic sounds of soprano, tenor, baritone or alto, blends in smoothly with the sounds of C-Note and D-Wayne to create a dulcet, classical synchronization that sets X-ALE apart from other musical groups of its kind.
