Timmi Burrell has an awesome personality that is obviously shaped from doing the things he enjoy, such as cooking, playing soccer and of course singing. Ever since his youthful days he was always singing and his talent was obvious to those who encouraged him to pursue a career in music. This he did and shares that, “It all started at a penny concert, but I started recording professionally when I moved to Negril and recorded my first song “Children Crying” for B I G label, back in 2008.”
He is a music lover who listens to various genres and a wide variety of artistes, but shares that his music is influenced by Beres Hammond, Sanchez, Dennis Brown Jahcure, Marvin Gaye, R Kelly and Sam Cooke. “I’m an old soul when it comes to music and so I am motivated by all those artistes,” says Timmi Burrell who continues, “To be honest no one thing or person motivated me to do music. I’d say music chose me after going down a dark path with gang.”
Timmi Burrell’s has written and recorded many songs including his 14 track album “Small-Town Boy”, ‘Addicted’, ‘Bump and Grind’, ‘Every Weh Mi Go’, ‘I’m in Love’, ‘Easier to Be’, ‘Where’s the Love’, to name a few. His productions are always professionally recorded and mastered by past and current producers, such as Computer Paul, Delly Ranks, BIG records, Macles Music Factory, Jamrockvybz Intl. and Riddim Addict and has done collaborations with Tmar, Gully Bop, King Ital Rebel.
His brand of music is well received by fans and event promoters who have booked him for shows such as Reggae Sumfest in 2003 and 2004, GT Taylor’s Christmas Extravaganza back in 2008 and 2009, Pepsi Splash and many other local and international events.
Timmi sights payola as one of the major setbacks for most artistes, “One problem most artist face is paying for music to be played, but I don’t even cry because it’s good to have the music playing on the radio. If they don’t I’m still gonna be making the music because there so many ways your music can be heard these days. It’s a joy for me when I see people expressing appreciation for my music. Seeing my music at number 28 on Belgium iTunes Charts and making the news in their newspaper was a good achievement.”
Timmi Burrell’s love for music pushes him to write new songs regularly, so currently he is working on a few singles to be released by vpal in November and December 2017. He is also working on his new album for 2018 so fans can look out for that.
