Singer & Songwriter LIKKLE CHIEF Biography

On the 20th day of October in 1995, a star was born to Sharon Stephenson and Rudyard Lewis in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica. Little did his parents know at the time of his birth that their baby boy Romarie Lewis would become a professional songwriter and singer, with such musical talent to impact and entertain all who come in contact with his music.

Romarie Lewis, professionally called Likkle Chief was educated at the Sir Clifford Campbell Primary, Petersfield High and Godfrey Stewart High schools, all located in the beautiful parish of Westmoreland. During his tenure at high school he was successful in accumulating the CSEC Subjects he had set out to achieve. His love for sports and athleticism afforded him the opportunity to become a top class member of his high school football team and was part of the team that went to the Ben Francis Cup quarter in 2013, and the LIME Super Cup and D’Costa Cup quarter finals in 2014.

Likkle Chief is known to his parents, siblings Alando Lewis, Shevon Christie, Chevoney Ashley and Asafa Williams, as well as his colleagues and friends as a jovial but conscious person, who enjoys laughing, singing, reading, barbering, playing football, drawing, dancing and socializing.

Though he is spends a good portion of his time crafting and masterminding his music career, Likkle Chief is employed as a skilled Waiter and Entertainment Coordinator at Sunset at the Palms, a popular resort in Negril, Westmoreland.

Likkle Chief’s first love was always playing football, as such he thought he would go to high levels in the sports, however his realization that he is also talented as a singer, added to the motivation he receives from family and friends, aided his decision to become a professional singer. That decision came in January 2017.

“I know that I have the talent from I was a little boy because I was always singing, but I didn’t take it serious or see it as a career. From I was a child, far as I can remember, about 4 or 5 years old, my mother would continuously ring in ear that am going to become a star, because I am always singing. To be honest I never see myself becoming a singer. I see myself becoming a footballer because that was my first love. Then in high school I was really convinced that I could sing/DJ, when me and my brother-friend Rascoe made a song and sang it at school. We got a massive reaction and then I started doing it more, performing at concerts, etc. My friends always tell me that am a good artist and that motivated me to drive even harder,” says Likkle Chief.

The singer grew up listening to various singers and all genres of music, and shares that his favourite artistes are the Legendary King of Reggae Bob Marley, The Cool Ruler – Gregory Isaacs, Iwayne, Garnet Silk, Sanchez, Deep Jahi, Chronixx, Mavado and Jahmeil. It is evident that his style of music was also inspired by Deep Jahi, Garnet Silk and Jahmeil.

The reggae/dancehall artiste’s new found love for music is very motivating. That along with his gift from the Most High God has inspired him to start recording his own music. To date he has recorded and released songs which include, ‘Rise My 9’, ‘Bad Mind’ and ‘My Day Soon Come’, all for Collaborations Record.
