Princess Saje music interview: “With a soulful-rustic tone and true Jamaican roots, Saje is sure to capture the hearts of people all around the world. If you knew her personally, it would amaze you to hear such an established sound coming from a quiet and shy personality. Saje is who she is; a sweet, charming artist who has a genuine love for the music.”
Tell us more about Princess Saje.
Princess Saje is a singer-songwriter born out of the heart of music. I am originally from Queens, NY with roots from Jamaica. Likewise, I am based in both Jamaica and New York. I see music as a tool; a voice to heal, uplift and unite. My love for the music has driven me to where I am now and where I will go. Life and the people around me have given me purpose; something to fight for and many songs to sing.
What inspired you to do Music?
Coming from a musical family, I had an appreciation for music early on. I soon realised that music was not just a hobby but that I have a divine connection to it. I do music because it is my contribution to the world. Music is my voice.
When and why did you decide to become a recording artiste?
I didn’t take on the artiste role until my Dad brought me to the studio for the first time. That moment really inspired me and showed me that I needed to take my singing more seriously.
What is the big dream?
I believe in purpose and destiny. My dream is that at the end of my road here in this life, I would have done all that I was meant to do and be all that I could be. That my space in this world would be filled.
If you had the opportunity to collaborate with five international artistes in 2020, who would they be?
Internationally I would love to collaborate with H.E.R., Lauryn Hill, John Legend, Justin Bieber and Musiq Soul Child. I would also love to do a collaboration with Chronixx. I’m a huge fan and I think our voices would pair well.
Tell us about your new hit single ‘For Now’.
With the release of my new song For Now, people are definitely wondering who I am. There’s a buzz out there around it, so I’m getting the right attention.
‘For Now’ is a special song for me. This song has really given me the push I needed. It was a song I had started writing earlier last summer and finished October 2019. It was produced by CJtheChemist. People love the song and so far the feedback has been great. I’ve gotten responses from people in the US, Jamaica, Canada, Italy, even Kenya.
Even though I am a new artist, I expect the song to reach far and wide. You can purchase or stream ‘For Now’ by Saje ft CJtheChemist on platforms like Deezer, Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
Who are some of the producers you have worked with?
So far I have work with the talented CJtheChemist and Walshy Fire.
What are some of the projects you’re currently working on?
I can’t really say much but more music is on the way. Right now I’m just working to get the music ready for everyone to hear.
Tell us about your team and what are some of the plans in place for your career?
My team is mostly friends and family to start. I’ve also been working closely with CJtheChemist as well as Danny. For now the plans are to get the music out there as much as possible and get people familiar with Saje.
You are a new kid on the block, so to speak, but what will make you stand out in the crowd?
I think my sound paired with my lyrics gives me an advantage. I’m not just a singer, I’m also a lyricist.
What can we expect from you in the next five years?
You can expect more music, lots of it. Five years from now I would have made my mark on the world and continuing to work towards a better me.
How do you interact with and respond to your fans?
I’m currently building my online presence. I try to interact with everyone through social media; on Instagram @princess_saje23 and YouTube at PRINCESSAJEVEVO and I love how the internet can connect us worldwide.
What is the one thing you want your fans to remember you for and why?
I want my fans to remember what I say and how I say it. I don’t just sing songs to entertain. I think it’s important that the fans get the message.
What is the impact you want to leave on the people who listens to your music?
I want the people who listen to my music to walk away with something new. Something that resonates with their heart. Something that will help them not just to survive but to live.
If you had one message to give to your fans what would it be?
Don’t give up.
