Reggae Singer & Songwriter CHAANT
Chaant (formerly known as ‘Rally’) is a singer/songwriter out of Jamaica who has over time, experimented with genres such as R&B and Acappella. Now, he has his mind set on Reggae and its fusions, to include ‘Lover’s Rock’ and ‘Pop Reggae’. He began singing when he was an elementary school student. Later, he spent some time singing in an all male acapella group which was very successful throughout Jamaica and the Caribbean. In 2000, the group entered and won the ‘Caribbean Song Festival’ held in Curacao. Eventually the group disbanded but he continued pursuing his interest in music.
In 2005, he formed a group called I-manii. This four member group focused their attention on conscious and uplifting messages. They performed on events with John Holt, Dean Frazer, Kevin Downswell, Benjy Myaz, A.J Brown and others. After recording I-manii’s debut album, Chaant decided to focus on his solo career. He has written and recorded a number of “lover’s rock” songs, a few of which are: (“Missing you babe”, “Sunshine”, “Break up” & “Rise up”).
Chaant has performed in Japan on a number of occasions. In 2008, he appeared on the annual ‘Reggae Breeze Festival’ held in Aichi. The event was headlined by popular Japanese artistes such as: Mighty Crown, Pushim, Ryo the Skywalker, and Ackee & Saltfish. He was also guest artiste at a few clubs in Nagoya and in Nagasaki. In 2011, Chaant was a popular wedding singer at Huis Ten Bosch (a Dutch-styled theme park) in Nagasaki. He also gave his vocal support at various fundraisers in Japan for victims of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
Throughout his musical career, Chaant has performed on various corporate and social events (with the most recent being in Kanagawa, Japan, 2017). The artiste has also recorded advertisements in Jamaica for prominent organisations such as Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) and The National Integrity Action (NIA) which have been aired regularly on Jamaican radio.
At this time, Chaant aims to step out boldly and ignite the world with his music charged with positive sentiments of love and unity.
