Queen Gee: Tell us about your music background and history?
Macsimus: I, Dave Campbell aka MACSIMUS commenced my musical journey whilst in high school, I developed the love for music even more having realizing my talent growth because at times colleagues at school and I would use our hands to make beats on desks, while we sing until our throats got hoarse. I did cover versions as I didn’t take my writing skills serious. I sang several genres of music inclusive of dancehall and reggae mostly.
I took my music career seriously by enhancing my vocals and writing skills and singing my own lyrics. My first recording was actually a demo track entitled ‘All Eyes on We’; a song I wrote and recorded at Sugar Minott’ s Youth Man Promotion Studio. I was staying with relatives in St. Thomas for while where I did a dub plate titled ‘Gone with the Wind’ for Tactics Disco sound system. At times we performed in and around area stage shows, such Ghetto Bash. I did road management previously for reggae artists Simon Splinta, until I decided to record my own songs at studios, such as Cash Flow Records, Anchor Recording Studio and Konsequence Studio.
