Who is Arioso Legato?
My birth name is Alfonso R. Mitchell-Rios. “Arioso Legato” is my alias/ music name. I was born in Colon, Panama and migrated to the United States as a child. Currently, I reside in Westampton, New Jersey.
Why did you decide to become a music producer/beatmaker?
I’ve always loved music, but my true passion as a musician started in church. Playing the keyboard/organ in church really helped me develop an ear for music. Eventually, I started learning how to produce beats by using sequencer workstations and various software.
Outside of music what do you like to do for fun?
Reading the Bible, watching documentaries/movies are definitely a past time for me. Spending time with family and friends.
What is the big dream?
To be a successful producer/beatmaker.
Who are some of the musicians and producers that inspires you?
My son “AJ Rios”… plays piano, drums, guitar and is a super dope beatmaker. Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Prince, DeVante Swing, The Neptunes, Timbaland and Missy Elliott.

Since the start of your music career, which project stands out the most?
That’s hard to summarize because I love every project I’ve ever been a part of. In my eyes, my beat/riddim albums are what stand out the most. It is the purest form of my feelings and experiences manifested into music.
Do you specialize in any particular music genre?
I would say none in particular but in these past couple of years I’ve produced many Dancehall/Reggae type riddims. Depending on the artist, you might hear some Urban-Pop or R&B/HipHop beats. Overall, I love the Caribbean and African vibes when it comes to music.
What can we expect from you in 2020?
In 2020, expect quality over quantity. Besides songs and beat albums, I am working on getting more involved with music for films/TV, etc. More importantly, I am looking forward to working on a Gospel/Inspirational music project.
What is your advice to upcoming beat makers and producers?
Stay humble and hungry. Learn to listen and take advice. Don’t give up and always work on your craft. Remember, complacency is the silent killer of dreams. In other words, don’t be lazy.
